Hormone Replacement Therapy
Anti-Aging Medicine and Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy have tremendously advanced in recent years and are changing the way physicians approach patient care. Looking for the cause of a problem, rather than just treating symptoms, and using preventive strategies has proven to be more efficient than temporary relief of singular signs and symptoms.
Hormones are the substances that control every function of your body. Yourhormones should exist in harmony with each other. As we get older, our hormone levels decline. Some hormones decline more than others, leaving the person in hormonal imbalance. When the balance is lost, the hormone deficiencies and excesses can cause chronic symptoms and disorders, and heighten risk for disease. Many age-related diseases can be associated with hormonal imbalance.
A whole host of symptoms may signify hormonal imbalance: fatigue, headaches, weight gain, irritability, PMS, hot flashes and night sweats, infertility, mood swings, sexual dysfunction, depression, prostate problems, fibromyalgia, and thinning hair, as well as many others.
Combining a complete evaluation of your signs and symptoms with your test results, we will develop a logical explanation of how hormone imbalance is specifically affecting your health.
Therefore, after thorough evaluation of your health history we will be able to create a comprehensive program to individualize your treatment. It will include balancing of the deficient hormones in the most appropriate dose via the most effective route, and monitoring signs, symptoms, and hormone levels to fine-tune the therapy.

What is Bio-identical or Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy?
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is a layperson’s term for the treatment of the hormone deficiencies caused by menopause using only molecules that are identical to the endogenous hormones found in the human body.
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy differs from traditional hormone replacement therapy which includes animal-derived and invented molecules that are similar to, but not identical, to human hormones.
“BHRT” is also used more generally to describe the practice of using only bioidentical hormones in the treatment of all hormone deficiencies, not just menopause.
What is the difference between bio-identical and synthetic hormones?
Synthetic hormones are manufactured in laboratories, for mass consumption, in other words, one-pill-fits-all. Because they are synthetic and not natural, they can produce unwanted side effects like nausea, fluid retention, and dizziness. And there are also potential dangers like the increased risk of breast or uterine cancer.
Bioidentical hormones, contrary to synthetic hormones, are extracted from natural sources, plants like soybean and wild yams, and their molecular structure is identical to that of the hormones produced by our bodies. They can also be compounded (made into cream) to suit your specific hormone replacements needs, allowing you to receive individualized hormone treatment.
Some advantages of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy are; improved look and feel of hair and skin, weight loss, improved sex drive, improved mental health, lower cholesterol levels, decreased risk of osteoporosis, decreased risk of heart attack and stroke and so much more!
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can be used to treat the following conditions or symptoms:

Perimenopause – The period of transition to natural menopause during which the body undergoes endocrinologic and biologic changes resulting from declining ovarian hormone production; Symptoms of perimenopause can include irregular menstrual periods, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, insomnia, and mood swings. Perimenopause can last over six years (four years is average) and usually ends after twelve months of amenorrhea.
