PROLOTHERAPY

Weak ligaments and tendons are often the cause of pain and joint damage. Traditional approaches, such as surgery, physical therapy or anti-inflammatory drugs, often fail to stabilize the joint or provide lasting relief from pain. Prolotherapy directly addresses the cause of the instability by strengthening and healing stretched or torn ligaments and tendons. Improved function means less pain.Click here to go to this page

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

It is irresponsible to burden a weight patient with the line “Eat less and exercise more.” The key to lasting weight management is not simple.

Weight gain is not a character flaw, and certainly not “all in your head.” It is a complex metabolic process. ~ David E. Pawsat, DO Click here to go to this page

Acupuncture

Acupuncture: Renee Hubbs, Integrated Health of Mid-Michigan

The journey to health and wellness has many paths!

Acupuncture is a system of healing that originated in ancient China, which is based on the theory that a type of life force or energy, known as qi, flows through energy pathways (meridians) in the body. Each meridian corresponds to one organ or group of organs. Chinese medicine states that achieving the proper flow of qi along the meridians is thought to create health and wellness.

During treatment, very fine needles are inserted in strategic points along the meridians to balance the flow of energy in your body. Acupuncture is a key component of Chinese medicine and works to alleviate pain. We use a Japanese-style of acupuncture (smaller, more refined needles) and may incorporate Hara diagnosis, Meridian Stress Assessment, Meridian Therapy, Bio-Energetic Stress Tests, and Cranio-Sacral Therapy as part of your treatment. Microcurrent electro-acupuncture services are also available for a variety of concerns.

Another eastern healing modality, Sound Healing is a non-invasive therapy that helps patients strengthen their sense of balance and relaxation. These forms of relief can often times help relieve the painful sensations of fibromyalgia. Increasing relaxation and stress reduction can help these individuals who suffer from fibromyalgia feel at ease.

Treatment Applications

Acupuncture can provide relief for a variety of disorders, including the following:

  • Bronchial asthma
  • Chemotherapy
  • Chronic infections/illness
  • Early onset facial paralysis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Gastrointestinal disorders
  • General pain
  • Headaches
  • Infertility
  • Musculoskeletal issues
  • Neurological bladder dysfunction, bed wetting
  • Obstetric/gynecologic issues
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Pain management
  • Sinusitis
  • Smoking cessation
  • Stress
  • Tissue repair
  • Trigeminal neuralgia
  • Wrinkles and scarring

What To Expect

Some people feel relaxed, while others feel energized. Rigorous exercise should be avoided immediately after treatment. Acupuncture has few side effects. Any that do occur are mild and self-correcting. Cupping and guasha can leave a temporary mark on the skin. Such bruising is painless and generally clears within two days.

Preparation

You must have a referral from a physician before being treated using acupuncture. No prescription is required for the Meridian Stress Assessment. Generally, a course of treatment will require multiple visits. You will be given an estimate of frequency and types of therapy that we would recommend.
